It’s important to get comfortable with the basics of Urbex before venturing into more dangerous and unknown locations. Leave the mines, sewers, or storm drains for when you have more experience, these locations require specific equipment and can present more dangers.

Safety First
Safety should always be a top priority. Wear appropriate clothing. Sturdy shoes and heavy clothing to protect yourself from potential hazards like broken glass or rusty nails. Bring a first aid kit, a flashlight, a fully charged phone, plus snacks and water to stay energized and hydrated throughout the day. Tell someone where you’re going and what time you expect to return. And trust your instincts, if something doesn’t feel safe, leave.

Don’t Go Alone
Exploring with a buddy or in a group not only adds to the overall experience but enhances your safety as well. A group offers support in case of an emergency, and sharing the adventure afterwards over a few beers is one of the best parts of any experience.
